What a Night!

I traveled to Lancaster, PA for a church service last night. I didn't get back to town until 12:30am. OMG! I still need to get to FedEx Kinkos. I stopped home, dashed in, and got my MacBook and thumb drive. I drove 15 minutes to Catonsville only to find a closed FedEx Kinkos. Man, I cursed them out all the way back home. I told my inkjet to print and it didn't do it. Now it's well after 2am. I had to get to bed. I woke up around 6:45am and headed to my desk. I got one printed on the inkjet, but the other is too big for my printer. I arrived to campus to get it done, but it's not quite right in PDF format. The PDF format really changed alot of items on the page. I found the paper in the lab to be very thin. Next time I'll travel further to FedEx Kinkos in Owings Mills to get it done my way.

Motivational Speaker

Dwauna Maura is my Mary Kay Sales Director as well as a motivational speaker. She asked me to design a website for her motivational speaking career. I will keep you posted with my work. This will be my very first website design. I will be using a template. I haven't had any training in building websites. I'm confident that I can do this. I appreciate the opportunity that she has giving me. She chose me over her sister who previously designed a site for her Mary Kay team. Goal Poster Accomplishment

I'm so excited. This is my baby, her name is God Kept. God blessed me with her on Thursday, 18 September 2008 She is a 2008 Hyundai Entorage mini-van. I love her color and the room. She drives so smooth. I traded in my five speed Mitsubishi Lancer. I miss my stick shift. I still haven't gotten use to driven an automatic yet. I drive fast and have to slam on the brakes to make a turn because I forget that I can't down shift to second gear in mid-turn. I'll get use to her soon. I had a private baby shower at Wal-Mart and Pep Boys. She has a 2-ton jack, a tool box, some cleaning supplies, a steering wheel cover, and I put her name on the back window. I'm not finished yet. I'm going to get her some curb feelers, an electric refrigerator, fog lights, rear speakers, GPS, and an entertainment center.

“Meet Malcolm Spaulding”

Malcolm Spaulding has been repairing shoes in America since 1977. Initially Mr. Spaulding learned to be a bricklayer in his native country Kingston, Jamaica, but he didn’t like it. His father told him that he had to learn a trade so he moved onto cobbling shoes. In Jamaica, cobblers made more money than bricklayers and the shoe shop’s atmosphere was similar to that of a barbershop. In the shoe shop he listened to men joke, laugh, and tell stories. He journeyed here to Baltimore after his sister saw an ad looking for shoemakers willing to move to America. His first night in America he stayed at the YMCA. He remembers feeling starved all night long. He thought they provided food.

Malcolm’s is located on the corners of W. Fayette Street and Pulaski Street. The building has been a shoe shop for the past 50 years and it’s been Malcolm’s for the past 35 years. Malcolm has customers whom love his work so much that they bring their damaged footwear when they visit Baltimore from New York.

He employees counter workers to take in the shoes, but does all the work himself. He has never done anything else since he started repairing shoes. In the 1970’s and 1980’s shoe shops were everywhere. Now, “Shoe repair is not on top like it used to be,” explains Mr. Spaulding. He exclaims, “People are lucky to find a good shoe maker.” There is only a small amount of shoe repair shops that still exist. He’s hoping that his supplier does not go out of business for the lack of supply and demand. Help a brother out; stop in to see Malcolm to get your shoes hooked up.

The Pope John Paul II Prayer Garden located at the corners of N. Charles St. and W. Franklin St. caught my eye. It wasn't until this project that I was promoted to investigate. I will give you more information as I get it. Here are some preliminary pictures. The foreman was nice enough to let me get them from inside the fence. It made me feel special. He even gave me the idea of the overhead shot. I can't wait to see the finished product. The cartoon graphics hanging on the fence does not do it justice. Stay tuned to see final pictures.

What Inspires Me

I have a goal poster which I originally made to inspire me to sell Mary Kay, but instead it inspires me to keep moving. Often I want to quit. I want to quit school, searching for jobs, and basic human functions. My goal poster starring at me as I walk through my office to the kitchen for a cold cup of Kool-Aid keeps me a float.

The most important goal on the board is to take care of my Dad financially and buy him the first limo of his fleet of Luxury Chariot Sedans.

1st Lady Dionne Tillman on Forgiveness

Do you hold onto hatred, bitterness, envy, competition or strife? If you answered yes then you may be harboring un-forgiveness. 1st Lady Dionne Tillman (a Pastor’s wife) attributes un-forgiveness as a trick of the devil that has entrapped or enslaved many people, Christians alike. He’s very cunning at convincing us to concentrate on the person (the who) that offended, hurt, lied, deceive, or betrayed us.

1st Lady is an extraordinary woman. Ever since I can remember this woman has encouraged me to forgive. It’s as if she could see right through me. We hadn’t had discussions about my life; she only had the opportunity to watch me interacting at church. I’ve seen her face adversities in her life from the outside and never seen her sweat. Rumors (of her husband’s infidelity) where swerving above and she looked like a ray of sunshine gleaming across a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end. To others she may have looked differently, but having talked to 1st Lady about forgiveness brings the realty of that pot of gold.

In her opinion, “forgiveness ranks a close second to this commandment (My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John 15:12{NIV})”. She says, “Forgiveness requires an act of love coupled with mercy. Forgiveness, love and mercy are directly related and cannot be separated. She advises all to pray and study God’s word to be released from the prison of un-forgiveness.
